This seemed direct- I took a slow drive around town, saw a license plate- "JstDoIt". Last Week - a book arrived in my mail box- The $100 Startup- by Chris Guillebeau; and on the radio- Oprah had the Soul Series- You have a calling- all you need to do is listen.

So away I go- signing up for art shows, preparing artwork and jumping into what seems to be "my purpose" Art- ink, watercolors and oil paintings when the feeling is near. "They" say when you start a project at 9 am and you look up at 9 pm, then you must really like your "job". I do. Although I would not consider this a "Job" but rather an adventure in my life.

As you visit my postings, I hope you get a chance to hear your calling, while perhaps viewing my art.

Thank you for visiting.

The locals say "give it a moment and it'll change" that's in reference to the weather. Tuesday it was a sunny 60 degree day, Wednesday it snowed, Thursday overcast and Friday rain.

As an artist I find that some things happen when I wasn't really paying attention. The weather for instance, or the fast pace internet with the millions of things happening. Lately, I am busy concentrating on trying to market my creations, looking at every location as a possibility to get a piece out there.

Some times creativity will disappear, and many days might pass. OR a snowy night appears and the studio calls to me to create flowing water views. However, when a Rainy day appears, today it is good to pull out the bright colored watercolors, a pen, some paper and create a sunny moment on paper.

And like life in general, I am thankful each and every second.

I keep busy, mind you, drawing, visiting friends, helping out in the community, reading, then there is the period of time for waiting. Waiting for the internet signal to be strong so images will load.

I've recently learned that at 3 - 4 in the morning, since I can't sleep, the connection is Fast- one inkline in an hour. verses one in 2 hours. I can handle this I am a patient person. This allows me to sketch another in that period of waiting, some times I add color.

I am thankful that there is a University in the town of Farmington, Maine, where I can connect at record speeds - and maybe load 3 images at a time. WOW. Soon you will get to see where to buy a card from me on AMERICAN VETERANS ONLY ARTS AND CRAFTS GALLERY.com or ETSY.com - Blevins Art Stayed tuned it's happening ~This is a pen and ink on Arches 140lb watercolor paper. 2" x 3" in size. If you'd like to purchase it $5.00 + tax and shipping. Thank you.

Recently a lot of fun things have been happening, new views, new trials that seem so simple, and enjoyable to do. Via an art supply company- Pearl Paint - fine art supplies, they offered a podcast- Author- Brainard Carey, "Making it in the Artworld" - talked about art residencies, someone selling a painting a day from Upper NY state - sounded like she lived in the woods (like me) and other great things.

I thought maybe I should try to do this, a painting a day.

SO this week, I have started an ink drawing a day, it's Thursday and I have received a request. WOW!

They are small, and I have added some color, but for the most part just pen on watercolor paper. I take a photo, and post on Facebook, now I need to learn how to post them directly on my web site.

New beginnings, new challenges- remember- at least for me- This Really Is Fun ~ Enjoy.

But I did figure out how to add a banner and it looks really neat. So I guess all in all it's been a very successful day.

New attitudes, new year, new views. Where do you go to buy artwork directly from the artist? or Etsy? At a Gallery? I'm wondering where to post these so you, too, can be an owner of a unique painting.

Drop me an email - let me know how I'm doing ~ where you would go to purchase a unique print? or painting?

I wonder if we are ever finished? as there is the tweeking, the learning how to add words, the descriptions, the price, and do I add a cart? almost~ seems to be the distance that we reach for ~ when will I get this almost right. Just when I think I have it - hmmmm- the connection gets lost and poof it's back to the original. aughhh. Good news though- I remember the steps, because by now I've asked almost all the questions I could to the website experts, and the repairs will be quick when I get to the High speed connection.

See you soon.

January 2012

A new month and a new year- 2 significant events that happen all at once.

'Creating experiences, "masterpieces" and keeping the home fires warm. I seemed to be juggling whether to heat my house or the studio- I've choosen tomorrow (when the temperature is to be in the 30's) to look out the studio windows into the woods beyond ~ letting the ink flow across the blank white paper.

It would seem as I "research" - Every where on the internet there are many artists that have found their direction- I've noticed many that can coach, or share a direction - as they make their way through the do's and don'ts of making a living as an artist. I listened to a fantastic lecture by Eden Maxwell author of An Artist Empowered- promoted by Xanadu Gallery- he shared a perspective( http://www.reddotblog.com/wordpress/ ) I really enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to depending on my art "cape" this 2012 year, as the brush touches the canvas or the pen onto paper~ may your year ahead be creative and delightfully successful, too.

Thanks for stopping by~
